Moldova is considering the fight against separatism in Transnistria. The Kremlin responded with threats.
Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on February 20 that Moldova should be careful with statements about Transnistria.
“Russia “was and is a very responsible party in regard to Pridnestrovian affairs, continues to perform its respective function. I would like to recommend our Moldovan counterparts to be very, very careful with this,” Peskov said.
What is known about the statements on Transnistria
The new Prime Minister of Moldova, Dorin Recean, believes that Transnistria should be demilitarized. That is, Russian troops must leave the territory of Moldova. Rechan made this announcement 2 days after his appointment.
The economic and social integration of our citizens there is very important, but demilitarization comes first. It depends on many things, but at some point it will be resolved,โ Recean said.
Peskov said that the relationship between Russia and Moldova to the change of government was tense. He said that Chisinau is becoming anti-Russian.
“We already have tense relations with Moldova. At the same time, the Moldovan leadership focuses on everything anti-Russian, also slipping into anti-Russian hysteria … Such a lack of constructivism is unlikely can something help Moldova itself and harm bilateral relations,” Putin's speaker said.
