The Kremlin may regret it very much: what serious mistakes Russia made regarding Trump Angela Figin

Vladimir Putin and his entourage have formed an extremely negative image for themselves in the eyes of the new US presidential administration. After all, despite the fact that Russian propaganda is trying to portray the dictator as a conservative and highly spiritual figure, the Kremlin makes serious mistakes again and again.

International security expert Taras Zhovtenko told Channel 24 about this, noting that the Kremlin is currently playing with fire, given the radicalism of the newly elected US president.

“The American delegation will bypass Russia”

Another example of Russian cynicism was the missile attack on Ukraine on December 25, on Christmas, which was negatively perceived by Trump's entourage. In particular, the future special representative for Ukraine and Russia, General Keith Kellogg, even wrote a separate message in which he critically assessed Russia's actions.

Putin's dictatorship has once again shot itself in the foot. Putin continues to shake the “Oreshnik” again. Lavrov began to say that any concessions from Russia in future negotiations on ending the Russian-Ukrainian war are absolutely unacceptable, – said Zhovtenko.

All these things form a negative image of the Russian side in the eyes of Trump, the international security expert concluded. The Kremlin is taking a big risk given Trump's radicalism.

The newly elected US President makes specific decisions, but if he is further provoked, the Russian leadership may regret more than once that they made such rash statements and steps. Despite this, the public position of the Russians has become even tougher, – Zhovtenko noted.

Against this background, statements appeared by Keith Kellogg, who announced his visit and other members of Trump's team in January 2025, first of all to Ukraine and several other European countries, to collect information from key participants in the future negotiation process on a peaceful settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian war and then present this information personally to Donald Trump. So that the US President, having analyzed what will be told to him later, has a reasoned basis for making decisions.

All these visits will bypass Moscow. No one will go to the Russians to collect information. Obviously, someone in the Kremlin realized that this could go too far with the future President of the United States of America and be subject to certain geopolitical consequences, – added the expert on international security.

In connection with this, a certain objective necessity probably arose, like, if the Americans do not go to Moscow, then Moscow sends someone to the Americans to try to smooth over this situation. However, it should be clearly understood that these contacts do not at all mean the beginning of negotiations between Moscow and Washington.

By the way, a plane from the special flight squad “Russia”, which belongs to the administration of Vladimir Putin, spent two days in the United States. According to the representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova, this plane was carrying out another rotation of diplomats from Russia to the United States.
