The Kremlin did not expect this: why the Peace Summit is a defeat for Russia Victoria Grabovskaya The Peace Summit, which was joined by 100 countries and organizations, ended in Switzerland. On the eve of its opening, Vladimir Putin put forward conditions that Ukraine supposedly must fulfill in order for Russia to begin negotiations with it. Russian oppositionist and political analyst Olga Kurnosova noted in a conversation with Channel 24 that the Russians hoped to disrupt the Peace Summit and tried to make sure that no one came to it. However, Russia's hopes were not justified. Therefore, this is a very sensitive diplomatic defeat of Moscow. In general, modern Russian diplomacy is anything but diplomacy. Look at Sergei Lavrov, Maria Zakharova – are these diplomats? This failure was to be expected, and it happened. Therefore, when Putin reappointed the government, it was necessary to change Lavrov, the oppositionist emphasized. The Russians also hoped that the level of representation at the Peace Summit would be lower. However, even here they were disappointed. The Kremlin did not expect this, that there will be representation at such a high level at the Peace Summit in Switzerland. In particular, from the USA – Vice President (Kamala Harris – Channel 24) – this is a high level of representation. Therefore, we cannot say that it was a passing event that no one was interested in and no one would agree on anything,” Kurnosova noted. Following the results of the Peace Summit, according to the political analyst, Russia must realize that most of the world powers today perceive it as an aggressor country, a criminal country, and Putin personally as a war criminal, who attacked the neighbors. The world will decide for itself how to not only stop the aggressor, but also punish him. After all, if he goes unpunished, then everyone will understand that this can be done. The world must find an answer to this threat – how to tame an aggressor country that has nuclear weapons. ” This is a very difficult challenge. The holding of the Peace Summit shows that the world is taking this threat seriously and is thinking about how to solve this problem. It is not a problem for Ukraine. and at least Europe, and, in my opinion, the whole world,” Olga Kurnosova is sure. The event took place on June 15 and 16 and brought together 100 countries and organizations. Following its results, the participants supported a joint communiqué. It had to be previously signed by 80 countries. However, Iraq and Jordan subsequently disappeared from the list of signatories. The final declaration stated that: Lavrov had to be changed
