What is known about a possible counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Recently, Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Vadim Skibitsky stated that the Ukrainian troops will be ready for a counteroffensive in the spring of 2023, and the Ukrainian strategic goal is to divide the Russian front between Crimea and the Russian mainland.
Skibitsky noted that the provision of Western military assistance is one of the decisive factors in determining the timing of the Ukrainian counteroffensive.
Western officials and the media have recently expressed some doubt about the ability of Ukrainian forces to counteroffensive and the ability of the West to provide long-term military assistance to Ukraine.
Preliminary ISW assessments of Russian military capabilities along the front line in the Zaporozhye region indicate that there are opportunities for Ukraine to launch a counter-offensive in this strategically important region.
When will the decisive battles begin
- Recently, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov, spoke about the decisive battles in the war between Russia and Ukraine. The head of Ukrainian intelligence said that the fighting was nearing an end.
- In his opinion, the middle and the end of spring will be decisive.
- Budanov stressed that Ukraine has only one condition for victory – access to the administrative borders of 1991.
- The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense added that in 2023 the war will end with the victory of Ukraine. According to him, good news should be expected in the second half of 2023 or closer to its end.
