The invaders tried to seize Popasna and take control of Rubizhne, but failed again/General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Russian occupation troops are trying to take over a number of settlements in the East of Ukraine. Their plan is dictated, first of all, by the desire to provide favorable conditions for a further offensive.
This is stated in the new code of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The department emphasized that the Eastern Operational Zone is designed to provide a land corridor with the temporarily occupied Crimea.
The situation in the Donetsk direction: data for May 5
According to the General Staff, in the Donetsk direction, the enemy tried to capture Popasnaya. Besides, Russian infidels are interested in Rubizhne. Over the past 24 hours, they have made several attempts to take the city under full control.
In this way, they would provide favorable conditions for continuing the offensive in the directions of Liman and Severodonetsk.
However, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the occupiers have not achieved success in this direction.
The situation in Donbas: briefly
Now the infidels are concentrated in the East of Ukraine. Intensive shelling is recorded in the Lugansk, Donetsk and Kharkiv regions. Some experts believe that Donbass is Russia's main target until May 9th. This is the reason for the activation of the troops. So, on May 4 alone, the Luhansk region was shelled 24 times, and during May 2, 12 civilians were killed and wounded in the Donetsk region.
