The head of the Polish Ministry of Defense said what he thinks about possible Russian aggression against NATO

The Polish government takes seriously scenarios in which Russian aggression against NATO countries, including Poland itself, becomes possible.

This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of Poland and Polish Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh in an interview with SuperExpress.

The minister was asked whether he envisioned a scenario in which Ukraine would lose the war with Russia, and the Kremlin would launch aggression against NATO countries or Poland.

— I assume all scenarios and take the worst ones most seriously. This is the role of the Secretary of Defense in the situation in which we find ourselves today. These are not words thrown to the wind. I try to weigh them very carefully, especially since I became Secretary of Defense. The situation in the world is very serious. This is not only Ukraine, it is also the Red Sea and the Pacific region. You need to be prepared for any scenario, — he said.

The head of the Polish defense department assured that for this reason an audit is being carried out, the necessary conclusions are being drawn, and gaps are being filled, for example, on the issue of weapons.

— Large purchases are very important, but individual equipment for soldiers is equally important to me. After coming to power, we signed contracts for the purchase of equipment worth 19 billion zlotys — mostly in Polish arms factories. But individually equipping a soldier with new and high-quality equipment — this is a very important change for me that needs to happen, — he explained.

Kosiniak-Kamysh also said that Poland is participating in the Rapid Deployment Forces program, within the framework of which already in 2024 and 2025 “Polish units will be in full readiness and at the disposal of the Rapid Reaction Force” European Union.

— Poland plays a very important role, and the European Commission appreciates this. We should not get used to war, we should not forget about it. The situation is really very serious, more and more countries feel this, — he said.

Meeting in Brussels: EU and Ukrainian Defense Ministers

The journalist also asked him about his recent trip to Brussels, where, in particular, he met with EU defense ministers, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

— It was an informal meeting of the countries' defense ministers. In the first part we discussed the Ukraine Support Fund, military support, the fact that bilateral arms supplies are very important, but the Union as a whole needs to be more involved. No one objected, despite the skepticism of some countries such as Hungary or Slovakia after the change of government, — he said.

Kosinyak-Kamysh added that Poland is part of the coalition of countries that provide the greatest support to Ukraine, providing it with the largest amount of ammunition.

— It was our commitment that we will fulfill, — assured the minister.

Recall that earlier the German general said that Ukraine would win the Russian-Ukrainian war, but this requires further support from partner countries and mobilization within Ukraine itself.
