Polish Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz said that the object that fell in the north of the country was probably a weather balloon.

The fall of an unknown object near the border: what is known

On Monday, March 4, an unknown object fell in a field near the town of Milakovo in northeastern Poland, near the border with Russia. It all started when a local resident in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship told the police that something strange had fallen in the yard near his house.

At first information appeared that it was a military facility. However, subsequently the Polish media noted that it was probably about a balloon that flew from the Krulevets (Kaliningrad) region, and there was no need to evacuate residents. The information about the military facility was also denied by the police of the neighboring city of Ostróda. /p>

This is not the first balloon crash in Poland

A similar incident occurred in the past June 30, 2023, also near the border with the Kaliningrad region. Then one of the residents of the city of Braniewo contacted the police and reported that he had found an object similar to a balloon.

A police patrol went to the scene and handed the object over to the military. The Polish Ministry of Defense later commented that the object, according to preliminary findings, was a weather balloon. The department also reported that the case is already being investigated by the relevant services.
