US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin asked European allies to transfer the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine to strengthen air defense capabilities.
He stated this during a hearing in the Armed Services Committee of the US House of Representatives on April 30.
— There are countries that have Patriot, and we continue to negotiate with these countries. I have personally spoken with the leaders of several states in the last two weeks, encouraging them to cede more funds or provide more funds, — indicated by the American official.
Austin did not name these countries for security reasons, but it is known that Spain, Greece, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland and Sweden have Patriot installations.
