Only Ukraine's membership in NATO can guarantee the state a long-term prospect of peace. No agreement with Russia will ensure this.

A NATO summit will be held in Washington next week. At the same time, the issue of Ukraine's accession to NATO is not on the agenda of the Alliance summit. This was stated by the head of the Munich Security Conference, Christoph Geusgen.

Ukraine needs NATO membership

Christophe Geusgen said in an interview that only NATO membership offers Ukraine a long-term prospect of peace.

Agreements with Russia is not worth the paper on which Putin puts his signature. Ukraine had to learn this bitter lesson. The only insurance is NATO membership, Heusgen explained.

The head of the Munich Conference noted that the international community, including NATO, must organize itself in such a way that Vladimir Putin finally realizes , that his aggression is not paying off.

Geusgen also did not rule out that Putin could attack the Baltic states, which are part of NATO, since the Kremlin dictator still seeks to restore the Soviet Union.

Previously, information appeared in the media that Estonia and Latvia, where a significant part of the population is Russian-speaking, could become potential targets for aggression. Moscow could use this as a pretext for an invasion, claiming to protect its citizens from harassment.
