The head of NJSC Naftogaz Alexey Chernyshov called on the European Union countries to increase the supply of air defense systems to Ukraine in order to protect underground gas storage facilities from Russian attacks.
He stressed that EU countries play a critical role in helping Ukraine protect civilian critical infrastructure.
— The European Union is interested in protecting Ukrainian gas storage facilities, since Ukraine’s gas infrastructure is integrated into the European energy system, — emphasized Chernyshov.
Shelling of NJSC Naftogaz facilities March 24
In an interview with the Financial Times, he said that the company’s gas storage facilities have been shelled by the Russian Federation more than once since the beginning of a full-scale war.

The last attack was carried out by the invaders on March 24th. However, then the damage was caused only to ground objects.
The storage facilities, which are located at a depth of up to 3 km underground, fortunately, were not damaged.
