Previously, the media reported that that Greece secretly sent 250 containers with weapons to Ukraine. On Thursday, May 16, Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias denied this information.
Dendias noted that Greece has supplied Ukraine with weapons and ammunition over the past two years, but has not sent weapons that are critical to the country's defense. He also stated that they do not hide information about the sale of weapons
Greece does not transfer weapons to Ukraine
There is no transfer of weapons to Ukraine,” Dendias told New Left MP Sia Anagnostopoulou during a parliamentary debate on the bill establishing the Center for Defense Innovation.
The minister also clarified that Greece does not hide information about arms sales within the framework of international agreements. In particular, Greece sells obsolete materials to the Czech Republic and the USA, which saves resources, because the destruction of these materials would cost more than 100 million euros.
Note that the newspaper Efimeritha ton Syntakton previously reported that Greek arms and ammunition were being secretly transported by rail through Romania in containers, and the first two containers were recently sent from Kato Gefira station, located near Thessaloniki.
