The Ukrainian government has approved a mechanism for issuing residence permits for foreigners and stateless persons who assist the Defense and Security Forces.

At the meeting, the government adopted the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers developed by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine On approval of the procedure for obtaining information necessary for processing a submission for issuing a residence permit to foreigners and stateless persons citizenship.
The Ministry of Defense noted that this decision will improve the protection of foreign volunteers who are involved in providing firearms, tactical, radio-technical, explosive, medical and other assistance to the Ukrainian army.

This resolution will strengthen the protection of foreigners who work in the combat zone, perform official tasks together with Ukrainian units for at least six months, the Ministry of Defense explained.
The Cabinet of Ministers' resolution defines the requirements for an application from a foreigner or stateless person (or their representative), as well as the procedure and timeframes for considering the application by the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ukraine.
According to the resolution, the issuance of an information certificate by the commander of a military unit confirming the fact of assistance provided to units is approved.
The resolution also defines the mechanism for sending documents to the State Migration Service of Ukraine that are the basis for issuing a residence permit.
