The German Ministry of Defense contacted the Ministry of Finance with a request to allocate additional funds for military support to Ukraine in the amount of €3.8 billion.

Additional €3.8 billion to support Ukraine

According to the publication, the Ministry of Finance unofficially approved the request of the Ministry of Defense; in June it should be submitted to the country's parliament for approval.

The €7.1 billion already allocated to Kyiv this year is almost completely planned, and only €300 million remains for the purchase of new batches of weapons, but Ukraine urgently needs additional support “so as not to lose the defensive the battle against the Russian occupiers”, the publication notes.

— Germany should not hinder the strengthening of Ukraine's defense. If possible, we should provide more weapons this year, — an interlocutor at the German Ministry of Finance told the publication.

According to Bild, for 2025 the German budget includes a record amount of €15 billion to support Ukraine. In addition, the German Ministry of Defense may request from the government an additional €6.7 billion for the Bundeswehr.
