Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, General Wieslaw Kukula said that his country needs to immediately strengthen its army, because everything indicates that the Poles will soon have to take up arms to defend their country.
He said this in his speech at the Academy of the Ground Forces, the Polish General Staff reported on its Facebook page.
Statement by the Chief of the General Staff of Poland
In his speech, Kukula spoke about the qualities that a modern commander should have and the direction in which the training system should develop.

According to his assessment, the transformation of the Armed Forces should allow the Poles to win the next war.
— Everything indicates that we are the generation that will defend our country with weapons in hand. And I do not intend, like none of you, to lose this war. We will win, we will come back and continue to build Poland, but something has to happen. We have to build armed forces prepared for this type of action, — said General Kukula.
According to the general, the demographic crisis could be an obstacle to this.
— The enemy's potential is so great that we need to build a much larger army, which means that we also need to implement a universal service model. So that professional soldiers, reservists, and territorial defense soldiers are one conglomerate, — he said.
He also gave examples of training and searching for talented personnel, as is happening, for example, in the US Army.
Kukula's statement was received ambiguously in Poland. In particular, General Leon Komornicki, who is the former Deputy Chief of the General Staff, said that Kukula is delving into the narrative of intimidating Poles with war. He called it a dangerous narrative, because the general should not say “we will not lose”, but “Russia will not dare to attack us”.
