The French company Thales plans to create a joint venture in Ukraine

French arms company Thales signed three agreements with the Ukrainian defense industry at the Eurosatory exhibition.

As the Thales press service reported, the signing of the agreements took place under the auspices of the French Ministry of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine.

Agreements with Thales are aimed at strengthening operational support for front-line operations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and strengthening local defense capabilities.

Areas of cooperation include electronic warfare, tactical communications, air defense systems and radars, and unmanned aircraft systems.

It is noted that two agreements concern one of the enterprises of the Ukroboronprom concern:

  • The first agreement announces Thales' intention to create a joint venture in Ukraine, which will be involved in the production of electronic warfare equipment, tactical communications equipment, air defense systems and radars.
  • The second agreement concerns electronic warfare, under which Thales will provide extensive maintenance, testing and specialized training.

The second agreement aims to develop local maintenance capabilities in Ukraine, which will shorten repair and maintenance cycles and ensure the best possible operational readiness.

In a separate, third agreement signed with Ukrainian UAV company FRDM, Thales intends to jointly develop and manufacture an unmanned aerial vehicle capable of transporting and releasing ammunition.
