With the start of a full-scale Russian invasion, Stetsenko joined the ranks of the 59th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine named after Yakov Gandzyuk, which holds the defense of Nikolaev.

Svyatoslav Stetsenko was a reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the Maidan, he headed the “Public Guard” of the Darnitsky district of Kyiv.
