Russia continues to amaze with absurd statements and actions in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. The invader wants to distribute Russian passports in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
This decision became known today, May 25, when a corresponding decree signed by the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, appeared on the network. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has not stood aside and has already managed to comment on the absurd statement.
The reaction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Putin's decision on passports in the Kherson region and Zaporozhye
Thus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemns the decree of the President of Russia, opening the way to forcing residents of the territories temporarily occupied by the Russian army in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions to acquire Russian citizenship.
Illegal passportization in Kherson and Zaporozhye, as well as in the Crimea and temporarily occupied part of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, is a gross violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the norms and principles of international humanitarian law, as well as the obligations of Russia as an occupying state.
The department emphasized that the decree of the Russian president is legally null and void and will not have legal consequences. That is, such a decision will not affect the belonging of residents of the temporarily occupied territories to Ukrainian citizenship. for their further occupation and integration into the Russian legal, political and economic field, the message says.
Kuleba's calls
The Foreign Minister stressed that Ukraine calls on the international community to stop Russia committing crimes against Ukraine. He added that the enemy is committing crimes on a scale that has not been known in Europe since World War II.
The minister demands to immediately adopt the sixth package of sanctions and start work on the seventh sanctions package. In addition, Kuleba called on international partners to expedite decision-making on the further provision of weapons to Ukraine. First of all, Ukraine needs to be provided with multiple launch rocket systems.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister concluded by stressing that delay would only encourage the Putin regime to commit further crimes against Ukraine and destroy peace and security in Europe.
In Kherson and Zaporozhye Russian passports will be handed out
Today, on May 25, it became known that Putin signed a decree simplifying the issuance of Russian passports to Ukrainians in the temporarily occupied territories. We are talking about the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Thus, the enemy seeks to establish full control over these regions.
According to the “administration of the region”, now the authorities of the Zaporozhye region are already preparing the infrastructure for organizing the issuance of Russian passports to residents of the occupied territories.
Recall , the Russian occupation authorities also carry out passportization under an accelerated procedure for residents of certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
