The Foreign Ministry has denied the fake news about Ukraine joining the EU in exchange for the overthrow of the Polish government

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has denied information from a correspondent of Polish television TVP in Brussels about the alleged promise of Germany and France to provide Ukraine with quick accession to the EU in exchange for the “overthrow” the current government of Poland.

— The information provided is not true. We categorically reject such insinuations. The Ukrainian side did not receive any such proposals; it did not and does not have any intentions to interfere in the internal affairs of Poland, — Foreign Ministry Speaker Oleg Nikolenko said on his Facebook.

He emphasized that Ukraine highly values Poland’s support in repelling Russian aggression and supporting our path to membership in the EU and NATO. And he expressed deep gratitude to the Poles who show solidarity with the Ukrainians. In particular, the diplomat recalled that President Vladimir Zelensky recently presented state awards to Polish citizens: journalist Bianka Zalewska and volunteer medic Damian Duda.

Oleg Nikolenko also expressed confidence in the “futility of efforts to drive a wedge into the high level of respect and cooperation of our peoples.” And he called on Ukraine’s Polish partners “not to succumb to attempts at provocation and to work together to effectively counter common challenges.”

Recall that recently relations between Ukraine and Poland have seriously deteriorated due to Warsaw's firm reluctance to resume the export of Ukrainian grain crops.

The European Commission at the beginning of May this year introduced an embargo on the import of Ukrainian grain crops to Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania. The restrictions expired on September 15, and Brussels decided not to extend them.

However, despite this decision by the EU, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia unilaterally extended the embargo on the export of Ukrainian grain crops.

In addition, on September 20, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that Poland is not yet transferring military equipment to Ukraine, since it is arming and modernizing its own army on a large scale.

Such a statement provoked a loud resonance in Polish politics and the EU countries.
