The first two civilian ships agreed to pass through a temporary corridor to the ports of Ukraine to load agricultural products.

This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine Alexander Kubrakov.

After Russia blocked the Black Sea Grain Initiative, Ukraine opened new temporary routes for civilian ships. Until now, ships passed through this corridor only in the direction from Ukrainian ports.

Now they are watching

And now the first vessels – bulk carriers RESILIENT AFRICA and AROYAT – are heading to the port of Chernomorsk.

– After using a temporary corridor to exit ships blocked due to Russian aggression from the ports of Odessa, Chernomorsk and Yuzhny, bulk carriers RESILIENT AFRICA and AROYAT confirmed their readiness to use the route to the entrance to the port of Chernomorsk, Kubrakov noted.

The ships should be loaded with about 20 thousand tons of wheat for the countries of Africa and Asia.

The ships are flying the Palauan flag. Their crew consists of citizens of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Egypt and Ukraine.

Kubrakov recalled that the temporary corridor began to operate on August 15. Since then, five ships have used it: the container ship JOSEPH SCHULTE, bulk carriers PRIMUS, ANNA-THERESA, OCEAN COURTESY and PUMA.

These ships were in Ukrainian ports at the time of the full-scale Russian invasion and were blocked there due to the war .

Meanwhile, Ukraine conveyed to Turkey a proposal to resume the Black Sea Grain Initiative without the participation of the Russian Federation. This issue can be discussed on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

In addition, Ukrainian grain began to be exported via an alternative route – through the ports of Croatia.

As you know, the Black Sea Grain Initiative was agreed on July 22, 2022 . Ukraine has concluded an agreement with Turkey and the UN. The Russian Federation signed a similar separate agreement.

The aggressor country regularly blocked the work of the grain corridor, and after July 17, 2023, withdrew from the initiative.
