The first aid center in Ukraine for people who survived captivity and torture was opened in Lviv

The first Mental Health Center in Ukraine for those released from captivity has opened in Lviv. This was announced by the city's mayor Andriy Sadovyi.

Space for recovery

Every week hundreds of Ukrainians return from captivity. They are our relatives, friends, brothers-in-arms. But even after returning they do not always feel free – pain, trauma, fear remain with them for a long time.

It was for their restoration that the Center was created, which became part of the large rehabilitation ecosystem UNBROKEN.

Everything here is arranged in such a way that a person feels not like a patient, but like a guest in a safe space.

The 17 living rooms feel more like a home than a hospital. Next door is an art therapy room with a pottery and art studio.

โ€” But if someone wants to weave, sing or play music, we will adapt. Because the main thing is to give a person freedom and an environment where they can recover, โ€” the head of Lviv noted.

He thanked everyone involved in the project for their support, especially the Flemish government and the mayor of Mechelen, Belgium, Bart Somers.
