A protective medical mask reduces the risk of contracting respiratory infections by 1.8 times. This is the conclusion reached by the experts of Rospotrebnadzor, TASS reports.
Also, experts from the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology have calculated that the risk of contracting SARS, influenza and COVID-19 is reduced by 1.3 times when using gloves. At the same time, the need to protect hands was especially clearly manifested in the presence of contact with patients: in this case, the probability of infection decreased 2.7 times.
In early September, Canada's chief physician, Theresa Tam, said partners should wear protective masks when having sex to prevent infection with the coronavirus. According to her, the likelihood of catching an infection through semen or vaginal fluid is small, but high with kissing.
In August, Russians massively abandoned protective masks for children in schools. This is evidenced by the survey data of the research center portal Superjob.ru. It is noted that about half of the respondents refused from the mentioned accessory, as it “makes it difficult for the lungs.”
