The European Union will bloom, – the political scientist allowed the date of full membership of Ukraine in the EU

The EU will only benefit from Ukraine's membership/European Truth

If we analyze it politically, then all the cards were “folded” so that today we received the status of a candidate for EU membership and became happier. This is the right decision and the European Union itself will receive positive consequences if Ukraine becomes a full member.

Political scientist Mykola Davydyuk told Channel 24 about this. He also noted that today the Prime Minister of Albania made a very interesting speech and said that Ukrainians “do not fall too much in love with this candidacy.”

Macedonia received this status 17 years ago, and Turkey generally 34 years ago EU candidate status, adds Mykola Davydyuk.

If we really fulfill all legislative requirements by the end of this year, then we can really demand further steps from the EU, the political scientist says.

Our membership will greatly strengthen the EU – Ukraine today with the strongest army in Europe, and the population in general is doing things on the verge of the possible, – Davidyuk notes.

Therefore, today's decision is not a loan for the future, but a payment for the past. I think the real credit for the future will be real EU membership next year, says a Ukrainian political scientist.

“The Prime Minister of Portugal also said that “the EU will not withstand Ukraine in its composition,” but if the EU withstood the entry of Portugal, then this union with Ukraine will simply bloom,” Mykola Davydyuk is convinced.

What gives Ukraine the status of a candidate

  • The government announced a number of benefits that Ukraine will receive with this status. This will mark the beginning of a comprehensive transformation in all areas.
  • Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal noted that now the country will have more opportunities for its voice to be heard in the formation of EU policies.
  • Ukraine will also become more attractive for investors, business will be more secure.
  • Ukraine will have access to financial assistance for countries preparing to join the EU. It will be provided through grants, investments or as technical assistance.

Ukraine has paid a terrible price for the sake of the EU

Ukraine has been proving its right to be a member of the EU since November 2013. The heroes of the Heavenly Hundred appeared precisely because of the protests that Yanukovych's decision to abandon European integration caused. It was a terrible autumn and a dark winter, more than 100 Ukrainians and Ukrainian women died from the executioners of the actions of the police and the Berkut.

President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the application for membership after the full-scale invasion of Russia in February.

In this endeavor, we were immediately supported by Poland and the UK. However, different opinions were heard, in some places it seemed that the EU would not dare to take such a step.

For example, French President Emmanuel Macron had previously made statements that could indicate that we would be offered an “interim version” of the agreement. He said that there should be a new association of countries seeking to join the EU. Ambiguous statements were made by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

However, already on June 16, during a joint visit to Kyiv, Macron and Scholz voiced something else. The leaders openly supported the granting of candidate status to Ukraine.

After that, on June 17, the European Commission officially recommended granting Ukraine candidate status for EU accession.
