An EU official told Euronews that egg imports from Ukraine have reached a level where the European Commission is expected to reinstate tariffs within the next two weeks.

However, the EU association, which represents European sugar consumers in the food and beverage sector (CIUS), expressed concern about possible restrictions on imports from Ukraine.

As the EU association notes, in the coming years the volume of sugar will not be enough to satisfy the demand of the European market.

Recently, the European Commission introduced restrictions on the import of oats from Ukraine from June 19, 2024 to June 5, 2025.

Volumes of oat imports have reached the average annual permissible level — 2440.56 tons, so the EU decided to renew restrictions. Now the quota for oats is set at 4 thousand tons.
