Charles Michel on new assistance/Channel 24 Collage
The European Union and the G7 countries continue to help Ukraine. The new decision on support was made after Volodymyr Zelenskyy's speech at the meeting of the European Council.
This was announced on May 31 by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.
“The European Union will continue to help Ukraine in its urgent needs in confronting the occupiers. Together with the G7, we are ready to provide it with 9 billion euros. Strong and concrete support for the restoration of Ukraine,” wrote Charles Michel.
Germany's actions
Germany plans to provide grant assistance to Ukraine. This was reported on May 29th. We are talking about billions of euros. Diplomat Anka Felgusen discussed this with Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko.
Help from the Czech Republic
The Czech Republic has said it plans to bolster military aid to help Ukraine fight Russian invaders. Czech Defense Minister Yana Chernokhova announced this. This is from 600 to 700 million Czech crowns. This is from 26 to 30.4 million dollars. Chernokhova noted that she would lobby for assistance. She wants a decision to be made in the coming weeks.
“It is very important that Ukraine's assistance be permanent. The Czech Republic is one of the countries that have been supporting Kyiv for a long time. I have prepared a new proposal to provide Ukraine with military equipment,” the minister said.
Humanitarian Aid
Japan has provided $66 million in humanitarian aid. The country did it urgently. The decision was made on May 27. The money will be used to transport fire equipment and communication devices, medicines and medical supplies that are urgently needed in Ukraine.
In addition, Japan previously provided US$100 million in soft loans for 30 years. The annual percentage will be 1%. The benefit period will be kept for 10 years.
Support from Finland
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Finland is ready to help Ukraine with post-war reconstruction. In particular, we are talking about the restoration of infrastructure. In addition, Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin signed an agreement to continue the Finnish Support for Ukrainian School Reform project by 2023.
