The European Commission will recommend starting negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU – Politico

On November 8, the European Commission will release a report on the progress of Ukraine and other candidates on the path to EU membership.

Politico reports this.

— In this document, EU officials and diplomats say, Brussels will recommend opening accession negotiations between Ukraine and Moldova – subject to “technical” reservations on which countries need to make more progress, from creating a strong and independent judiciary to protecting the rights of minorities and implementation of anti-corruption measures,” the statement says.

According to one French official, “these will not be small, but major warnings.”

It is stated that a fast track option for any country wishing to join the EU is not being considered.

“Both current and future EU member states must commit to thoroughly preparing for the challenges that a 30+ member EU will bring,” Politico points out.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that at the end of this week Ukraine will receive positive news regarding the issue of EU membership.
