— I am amazed at how Ukraine carries out very difficult reforms during the war. If Kiev maintains this pace – and I see that they are absolutely motivated – this will be a decisive moment,” Ursula von der Leyen emphasized.
The President of the European Commission also noted that the EU accession process is based on merit, but refused name specific deadlines in relation to Ukraine. At the same time, she is confident that Kiev will ultimately succeed in its bid for EU membership.
Recall that in May this year, the EU decided to provide Ukraine with an aid package worth €1 billion in within the framework of the European Peace Foundation (EPF). According to the decision, it is planned to transfer 1 million 155 mm caliber shells to our country.
In July, the EU Council and the European Parliament agreed on a regulation according to which €500 million will be urgently allocated to support the production of surface-to-surface ammunition, artillery shells and missiles.
In early September, the European Defense Agency (EDA) signed the first contracts with European defense companies for the joint purchase of 155-mm ammunition for Ukraine.
