The European Boxing Union (EBU) has extended the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions under its auspices. The decision was made by members of the Board of Directors during a meeting in Paris.
This was announced by the Vice-President of the Professional Boxing League of Ukraine Alina Shaternikova.
— My message to the EBU members was, as always, clear and understandable to everyone who respects the peace and security of the world: no compromises regarding boxers, coaches, judges from Russia and Belarus, maintaining the status quo, that is, boxers are excluded from the European rankings, no one EBU title is not played on the territory of the aggressor countries, Russian and Belarusian judges licensed by the EBU are not invited to the competition, — she wrote.
Shaternikova also noted that EBU President Peter Stucki said that there can be no compromise on the issue of isolating Russian and Belarusian athletes and functionaries while the war continues in Ukraine.
Now watchingIn March 2022, the EBU suspended athletes from the Russian Federation and Belarus from competitions for an indefinite period. They were excluded from the ratings and also deprived of the right to conduct fights licensed by the organization.
Despite the IOC’s recommendation that Russian and Belarusian athletes be admitted to competitions in a neutral status, the EBU management stated that it would not renew the status of representatives of the Russian Federation and Belarus, while the war continues in Ukraine.
