The EU will provide Ukraine with €250 million to restore schools, hospitals and housing – Shmygal

The Ukraine Energy Support Fund, together with announced contributions, has already exceeded €300 million.

Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal announced this during a meeting of the Ukrainian government on November 7.

“We are gradually approaching winter, and the risks of Russian energy terrorism are growing every day. Therefore, we are preparing for all scenarios, strengthening the active and passive defense of energy facilities, and accumulating international assistance,” the head of the Cabinet noted.

Among the leaders of support, according to him: the European Union, Germany, Sweden, the USA, the UK. Using funds from the energy support fund, Ukraine buys transformers, turbines, connectors, equipment for backbone networks, and the like.

Denis Shmyhal also reported that the Cabinet of Ministers approved an agreement that will attract another €250 million from the European Union for rapid recovery.

“We are talking about restoring bridges, railways, schools, kindergartens, hospitals, residential buildings, as well as supporting Ukrainian farmers,” the government said.

The day before, on November 6, a new mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) began work in Ukraine, which aims to review the program for expanding financing of the EFF program.

As part of this mission's work, Ukraine may receive an additional $900 million.
