The European Union strongly condemns the holding of pseudo-elections by the Russian Federation in the occupied territories of Ukraine, in particular in Crimea, Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
This is stated in the statement of the High Representative on behalf of the European Union, published on the official website of the EU Delegation to Ukraine.
They note that they reject the futile attempt of the Russian Federation to normalize illegal military control and the attempt to annex part of the territories.

— The European Union will not recognize the conduct of the so-called elections and the results. The political leadership of Russia and those involved in their organization will be held accountable for illegal actions, — noted in the message.
It added that the pseudo-elections took place in the context of the forced issuance of Russian passports even to children, forced displacement and deportation, massive and systematic violations of human rights.
In The EU condemns the pressure on the independent election monitoring group Golos, including the detention of its co-chair Grigory Melkonyants, and called on the Russian Federation to ensure continued monitoring of the elections by the OSCE.
