The European Commission has decided to provide Ukraine with 11.3 million euros worth of protective equipment. We are talking about suits and equipment against chemical and nuclear threats.

The European Commission made the decision to provide assistance at the request of the Ukrainian government. This became known from a press release on June 27.

Aid from the EU for more than 11 million

With a total financial cost of 11.3 million euros, this aid will be delivered to Ukraine from EU emergency stockpiles held in Romania, Hungary, Sweden, Germany, Greece and Denmark. the message reads.

The protective equipment to be provided by the EU includes:

  • 300,000 specialized protective suits;
  • 5,600 liters of decontaminating agents ;
  • 850 pieces of equipment for decontamination operations.

In addition, EU hospitals will also be donated patient monitors, infusion pumps and ventilators, protective equipment for medical personnel such as masks and gowns.

Lenarcic noted that 30 countries have already transferred goods to Ukraine through the EU civil protection mechanism. However, due to the long war, Ukraine's medical needs are enormous. Therefore, it was necessary to mobilize strategic reserves.

“The EU Emergency Response Coordination Center is in constant contact with the Ukrainian authorities to provide further assistance based on the specific needs indicated by Ukraine,” the European Commission press release says. .
