The Council of the European Union still supported the allocation of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine. We are talking about 1 billion euros, which will be used to support our economy during the war.

Valdis Dombrovskis, Executive Vice President of the European Commission, announced the good news.

The corresponding decision was supported by the EU ministers.

“1 billion euros to Ukraine! After the accelerated adoption, the EU will provide macro-financial assistance to the state affected by the war. The money will go to different areas,” Dombrovskis said.

What this was preceded by

  • On July 1, the European Commission announced the allocation of additional financial support to Ukraine in the amount of 1 billion euros. On July 7, the European Parliament gave the green light for macro-financial assistance to Ukraine.
  • The money will be used to finance priority budgetary needs and, in general, to ensure financial stability in Ukraine.
  • European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that Brussels is going to participate in the restoration of Ukraine in the long term.

    How partners are helping Ukraine

    The amount of financial assistance to Ukraine from partners amounted to almost 29 billion dollars. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal noted that our state has already received about 9 billion. In particular, this is assistance from the EU, the US and Canada. Separately from EU member states, there is also direct budgetary support.

    On July 12, the Ukrainian budget received $1.7 billion in grant assistance. They were sent by the US Trust Fund and the World Bank. This is the second US grant in the last two weeks. The total amount of assistance amounted to 3 billion in US currency.

    Lithuania will allocate 10 million euros for the reconstruction of Ukraine after the war. This decision was made by the government on July 11. The assistance package, the Lithuanian government members noted, will help official Kyiv in urgent restoration work. Lithuania is convinced that these 10 million will accelerate recovery and help many Ukrainians return home.
