This summer the Global Peace Summit will take place in Switzerland. However, the end of the war will not be discussed at it.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said this in an interview with Stern, n-tv reports.

What will be discussed at the Peace Summit

At the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, which will take place in the summer, they will not discuss the end of the war.

We will not negotiate there about the end of the war. At best, this will be the beginning of a process that could lead to direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, he said.

According to the German leader, others will be discussed at the event in Switzerland questions. In particular, we will talk about the safety of nuclear power plants, grain exports, the issue of prisoner exchanges and the necessary ban on the use of nuclear weapons.

Scholz added that “one way or another, all these topics still at the nascent stage.”

World Summit: what is known

  • In April, President Vladimir Zelensky announced that the first Peace Summit should take place in June. And now the authorities are working to ensure that it becomes truly global.
  • The First Peace Summit will be held 15 – June 16, 2024 in Switzerland. The venue chosen for the event was Bürgenstock, which is located near the Swiss city of Lucerne.
  • More than 80 people will take part in it up to 100 countries.
