The Embassy of Russia was engaged in the fate of the detained in Minsk journalists of TV channel “Rain”, covering presidential elections in Belarus. About it reports TASS.
The official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that the Ambassador is personally monitoring the situation. According to the diplomatic missions, journalists are in the Minsk police Department. They were detained from-for absence of accreditation.
Earlier, the chief editor of “Rain” Tikhon Dzyadko explained to RIA Novosti that the channel requested accreditation on 15 July. “We did not receive accreditation, each day we were asked to call back later… We worked in anticipation of the receipt of the confirmation of accreditation,” Dzyadko said.
About the arrest of the correspondent of “Rain” by Vladimir Ramensky, Vasily Polonsky and operator Nikolay Antipova became known the day on 9 August. In the Internet appeared the video, which journalists lie face down on the pavement, and then people in plain clothes taking them away in an unknown direction.
On the eve of the journalists of the TV channel “Real time” expelled from Belarus to Ukraine. President Alexander Lukashenko earlier it was calling for the expulsion from Belarus of foreign journalists, “calling for independence”. He, in particular, criticized the “bi-Bi-si”, “Radio Liberty” and “Komsomolskaya Pravda”.
