As Kovalenko notes, North Korea is the only country that has officially agreed to the presence of its troops in Ukraine. The foreign military personnel present in the occupying army so far have been mercenaries, signing contracts on an individual basis. A number of countries have already declared Russia’s actions to recruit their citizens illegal and are demanding that they be returned home, including Cuba and India.
“It was announced that the North Korean military will receive salaries unprecedented for this country at the level of $800. It is declared that the North Koreans will rebuild the civilian infrastructure of Donetsk, but the question of whether Korean specialists will be engaged in the construction of military facilities remains open,” – noted Kovalenko.
There is a possibility, continues the head of the Center for Operations, that North Korean specialists can transfer the experience of “tunnel wars”, well known since the Korean War, to the territory of Ukraine.
“In part, this is already being used by the Russians, in particular, near Toretsk and in Avdeevka. At the moment, there is no data on the possible use of the North Korean military directly in combat operations,” he noted.
Earlier, information appeared that North Korea would send “repair and restoration” units to restore enemy positions or destroyed settlements in the Lugansk region. The people's deputy explained what they could do there.
