The downed A-50U could have taken part in the parade on May 9/Collage 24 Channel

On the eve, over the Sea of Azov, the Ukrainian military shot down a Russian A-50 aircraft. Journalists suggest that this particular aircraft took part in the so-called victory parade in Moscow.

This conclusion was reached after reviewing various data, associated with this aircraft. If this is true, then the Kremlin has received a powerful slap in the face, because the A-50, which the occupiers were so proud of, will no longer fly over Red Square.

The parade plane will no longer fly

Actually, one of the Russian public pages on Telegram published a list of pilots. We are talking about those who could probably have been on board the A-50U that was shot down over the Sea of Azov. It suggests that on the night of January 15, a plane was shot down, which took part in the parade for the 75th anniversary of the victory in World War II – in 2020.

Pay attention to the list itself. In it you can see the commander of the A-50U aircraft, Vyacheslav Levchenko, as well as five other crew members. The Spy Dossier channel notes that the military is considered “missing in action.” Moreover, the list itself is incomplete.

Note that this list was also republished by the private Ivanovo channel “Bars”. Actually, in Ivanovo there is an airfield, which was the home base of the A-50U aircraft.

And in 2020 year, local media boasted that the plane under the command of Levchenko participated in the parade. Then they wrote that the A-50U crew consisted of five flight crew members and ten second cabin operators.

Actually, Vyacheslav Levchenko is also remembered by the announcer who commented on the A-50U flight over Red Square.

It’s interesting that the author of the “Spy Dossier” noted that A-50U became acquainted with the Sea of Azov thanks to the Patriot air defense system. At the same time, he called the version about an alleged error in the Russian air defense system a “duck”. He says that it is aimed at Russian pilots.

And there is logic here. In this way, they try to convince pilots that it is still safe to carry out tasks. And the incident with the A-50U, they say in stories, was only a mistake by the operator of the air defense system.

A-50 fell into a trap

  • Tom Cooper, who has written many books about Soviet and Russian military aircraft, made an interesting assumption. He believes that Ukrainian radars and missilemen literally lured the A-50 and Il-22 crews into a trap.
  • The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces could have set a trap for the enemy when our planes, probably Su-24 bombers, attacked Russian targets on the Crimean peninsula.
  • In this way they could suppress ground radar coverage. The surviving missile batteries in Crimea became partially “blind”. Particularly in the north, where the terrain helped disguise the approach of our planes, drones and missiles.
  • Russian commanders did the obvious, but stupid thing, according to Cooper. They ordered one of the few radar-equipped A-50 aircraft, which typically fly far south over the Sea of Azov, to move north. Thus, it was possible to expand the radar coverage of most of the peninsula. And our military took advantage of this.
