On the night of January 24, scouts and the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a surprise attack on the command post of the Russians near Nova Kakhovka, on the left-bank Kherson region . Thanks to this, the Russians suffered losses both in personnel and in equipment.
However, the greatest loss of the invaders was moral. The head of the Joint Coordinating Press Center of the Defense Forces of the South, Natalya Gumenyuk, spoke about this on the air of the telethon, Channel 24.

All because the invaders did not expect such a daring move by the defenders of Ukraine. In addition to the losses inflicted, our military managed to determine:
- the power of the invaders,
- their readiness,
- the ability to counteract a surprise attack.
In addition, it was an attempt to demoralize the personnel, because they felt quite confident in this area. So far, they feel, and every time it convinces them, that the islands are not a zone of their absolute control,” Natalya Gumenyuk emphasized.
The results of the defeat of the command post
Thanks to the work of the military of Ukraine, the occupiers themselves recognize this territory as a gray zone, because it is moving from control to control. And they are also aware that the Dnieper is not an absolute obstacle to the defense forces.
As for the total losses, Natalya Gumenyuk did not say how many of the invaders were eliminated. She emphasized that it is the prerogative of the General Staff to voice such data.
But we can state that the folding of units in these directions and moving them deeper is the result achieved, – she noted.
What is happening in the Kherson direction: the latest news
- On January 28, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the enemy was trying to defend himself in the Kherson direction. However, unfortunately, there were massive shellings on settlements.
- In particular, an air raid alarm was sounded twice in the Kherson region during the day.
- According to the reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military expert Roman Svitan , now in the Kherson region one should not expect any active actions from Russia. According to him, the invaders will neither attack nor defend there. They will try to exchange this and Zaporozhye regions for Crimea and the entire Donbass.
