Russia has imposed sanctions against almost a thousand Russians. However, the most interesting thing is that sanctions were even imposed against the late pruner John McCain, who died back in 2018.
The journalist Ostap Yarysh was the first to notice the sanctions against the late senator. He wrote about this on his Facebook page and added a screenshot from the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The dead are banned from entering Russia
It would seem, probably , the Russian Foreign Ministry simply forgot that Senator John McCain died. However, the list of sanctioned persons clearly states that the politician died in August 2018. Journalist Ostap Yarysh has already sneered that the dead are banned from entering Russia.

This is not the first time Russia has imposed sanctions against the dead
In March 2022, Russia imposed sanctions against the United States. Among them, a number of politicians have banned entry into Russia, which only caused laughter on the network. People joked that US President Joe Biden would no longer be able to leave for Syzran or Saratov.
However, the Russians only disgraced themselves. Indeed, as White House Speaker Jen Psaki noted, Russia has imposed sanctions against Joseph Robinette Biden, the late father of the current US president. While the full name of the American president is Joseph Robinette Biden Jr.
Why McCain haunts the Russians
Looking for logical reasons why Senator McCain appeared on the US sanctions list is not costs. However, it is obvious that the sanatorium John McCain, who during his lifetime was called a great friend of Ukraine, does not give the Russians peace.
The American senator has been known to Ukrainians since 2013. Then McCain came to Kyiv during the Revolution of Dignity and spoke on the main stage on the Independence Square with words of support.
After Russia annexed the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea and started the war in Donbass, McCain criticized then US President Barack Obama for not paying enough attention to the Ukrainian issue.
The late senator visited the city that is suffering the most today because of the war – Mariupol. There he met the new year 2017. Then he called for lethal weapons to be provided to our state. When at the end of the year the White House agreed to transfer Javelin anti-tank missiles to Ukraine, the senator noted that the United States was years late with this decision.
After Donald Trump was elected President of the United States, McCain began to mercilessly criticize him because positions in relation to the head of the Kremlin.
A great friend of Ukraine died on August 25, 2018 on the 82nd anniversary of his life. The cause of death was cancer. The day before, the senator had decided to end the treatment. Read more about John McCain in our material.
