Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky confirmed that the Ukrainian military will receive the first shells as part of the initiative in the near future in June.

The same forecast was voiced by the Czech government's special representative for the reconstruction of Ukraine, who is also responsible for the Czech initiative to supply shells, Tomas Kopecny.

He stated that he expects the volume of shells in the Ukrainian Armed Forces to increase.

— The first significant increase in supplies will be in June, it will be in the tens of thousands, between 50-100 thousand per month, — explained the diplomat.

What is known about the Czech initiative

In February 2024, the Czech Republic called on partner countries to purchase 155 mm shells for Ukraine outside the EU.

Already in March, the Czech initiative received feedback from more than a dozen countries, all new participants made their contributions.

In April, Czech President Petr Pavel said that Prague had already managed to find more than 1 million 155-caliber artillery shells, which are needed by Ukrainian troops at the front.
