The self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is involved in the removal of children from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. He helps Russia.

Pavel Latushko, deputy head of the Joint Transitional Cabinet and head of the People's Anti-Crisis Management in Belarus, told Channel 24 about this, noting that Lukashenko is implementing these actions together with Russia. The abduction of Ukrainian children occurs systematically.

How Belarus helps Russia

As Latushko noted, groups of children from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine are constantly transported to the territory of Belarus through Russia. Everything happens within the framework of the so-called “union state,” where the leader is Lukashenko, who signs these decisions. Belarusian oppositionists have documents and copies of contracts confirming these actions.

Ukrainian children are being re-educated on the territory of Belarus. Both Russian and Belarusian propagandists, as well as various Russian public organizations and “artists,” work there.

Then comes the adoption of children in Russia. According to our lawyers, Lukashenko’s role in these war crimes related to the illegal export of Ukrainian children has been proven. This will be considered further by the International Criminal Court. The materials have been imported, transferred and analyzed,” Latushko said.

Of course, the further decision depends on the International Criminal Court. There is hope that, in the end, Lukashenko will also receive an arrest warrant. But when this will happen is a question for representatives of the International Criminal Court.

Kidnapping of Ukrainian children: in brief

  • Since the beginning of a full-scale war, Russia has been illegally transporting Ukrainian children to its territory. This often happens through so-called “holiday camps” etc.
  • For example, it recently became known that the head of one of the Russian parties, Sergei Mironov, took home a ten-month-old child who was kidnapped by the invaders during the occupation of Kherson. Ukraine is already working to refer this case to the International Criminal Court.
  • The story of 18-year-old Bogdan Ermokhin, who was forcibly taken to Russia in 2022, is already known. He was still able to return to Ukraine.
