In Kyiv, they said goodbye to two hero pilots. The farewell ceremony took place on March 7.

So, in the capital they said goodbye to 22-year-old Igor Solomennikov and 55-year-old Viktor Volynets. Unfortunately, they died in the Donbas during a combat mission.

What is known about the Heroes

Viktor is from the Zhytomyr region and is a graduate of the Chernihiv Higher Military Aviation School for Pilots. Until February 24, 2022, he worked as a civil airline pilot. And since October of this year, he served as part of the 7th tactical aviation brigade named after Peter Franko.

Igor comes from the temporarily occupied Sevastopol. The military pilot graduated from the Kharkiv National Air Force University named after Ivan Kozhedub. He also served in the 7th Tactical Aviation Brigade.

Our defenders conducted more than one sortie as part of the same crew. 22-year-old Igor was a navigator. 55-year-old Victor is a pilot. They died in the Donbas during a combat mission. The crew was hit by an enemy fighter, the Air Force said.

Losses of Ukraine

  • On March 7, in Kyiv, they also said goodbye to four fighters of the sabotage and reconnaissance group from the volunteer battalion “Brotherhood”. At the end of December, they died on the territory of the Bryansk region during a combat mission.
