On Monday, a meeting of the International Court of Justice began in The Hague (Netherlands) on the claim of Ukraine against Russia regarding the genocide convention.
Official Kiev claims that Russia is violating international law, saying that a full-scale invasion was justified by preventing alleged genocide in eastern Ukraine. Ukraine filed a lawsuit a few days after the start of the war on February 24, 2022.
Russian representatives present at the meeting demand that the case be dropped and say that the court does not have jurisdiction to hear it.

The Kremlin continues to accuse Ukraine of alleged genocide.
Today at a meeting, Russian representatives repeated propaganda statements that the “Russophobic and neo-Nazi regime in Kiev” uses the 1948 Genocide Convention as an excuse to delay the case in court.
The hearing, which runs until September 27, will not deal with the merits of the case, but will focus on legal arguments regarding jurisdiction.
Russia has so far ignored the decision of the International Court of Justice to cease hostilities. However, experts say a final ruling in Ukraine's favor could be important for any future reparations claims.
On March 4, 2022, the UN Human Rights Council created an independent international commission to investigate Russian war crimes in Ukraine.< /p>
