Marines commander appealed to the Pope/Video screenshot
Major Sergei Volyn, heroically defending Mariupol, turned to the Pope. The Ukrainian soldier asked for help to save the inhabitants of the city.
The commander of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade wrote about this in a letter addressed to the pontiff. The military man noted that he is not a Catholic, but Orthodox, believes in God and knows that light always conquers darkness.
Sergei Volyn indicated that he had not seen Francis' appeals to the world and had not read his statements, because he was fighting more than 50 days in complete encirclement and all there is time for is a fierce battle for every meter of the city surrounded by the enemy.
I am warrior. I am an officer sworn allegiance to my country. And I'm ready to fight to the end. Despite the superior strength of the enemy, despite the inhumane conditions on the battlefield, the constant artillery and rocket attacks, the lack of water, food and medicine, the major stressed.
The Marine commander emphasized that the Pope would probably never I have seen nothing like what is happening in Mariupol now, because that is what hell looks like.

He pointed out that there was not enough time to describe all the horrors that he sees in Mariupol every day:
- women with children, with babies live in bunkers;
- in hunger and cold;
- at the sight of enemy aircraft;
- the wounded die because there is no medicine, no water, no food.
I'm asking for your help. For the time has come when not the only prayers. Help save them. After the bombing of the drama theater, no one had any faith left in the Russian occupiers.
