Anti-migration protests broke out in central Dublin on November 23. They began in response to an incident in which a man with a knife attacked people and injured 3 children. Police in Ireland said the girl who was shot by the man was receiving emergency treatment in a Dublin hospital after the attack. Shortly after the announcement, at least 100 people took to the streets, some armed with metal bars and covering their faces. To contain the protest, more than 400 officers were deployed to Dublin city center to contain disturbances they said were “caused by a small group of thugs”.
