Previously, media reported that the start of the ceasefire was expected on November 22, but due to logistical problems with hostages, they hope to postpone it to Friday, November 24.

This was reported by CNN with reference to the National Security Council of Israel. They note that coordination of the final details of the release of Israeli hostages continues.

How is the hostage exchange process progressing?

The White House expressed hope that the release of the hostages will begin on Friday, November 24. It is reported that Israel and Hamas are agreeing on “logistical details of the agreement.”

“The agreement remains in effect. In our opinion, nothing should be left to chance in the matter of returning hostages home. Our main goal is to ensure their safe return,” a White House spokeswoman commented on the exchange.

The negotiating parties needed additional time to agree on the location and route for the return of the hostages . The decision to postpone the exchange by one day was made by Israel jointly with Qatar and Egypt, after which it was approved by the United States.

Also, according to the White House, Israel has not yet received a list of hostages included in the first exchange group. However, Washington hopes that this list will become known to Tel Aviv by November 23.

What are the conditions for hostage exchange?

According to preliminary information, Israel agreed to release 50 of its hostages in exchange for a 4-day truce and 150 Palestinian prisoners not involved in the killings of Israelis. The agreement stipulates that for every additional day of the truce, Hamas will release 10 more hostages.

The total number of hostages captured by militants exceeds 200 people. At the same time, Israel is not going to abandon the continuation of the ground operation after the release of all its hostages, the goal is to destroy all Hamas militants.
