The case of preventing an assassination attempt on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took place in April 2024 and ended with the arrest of a Polish citizen.
This was reported by the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, coordinator of the special services of Poland Tomasz Siemoniak on the social network X.

According to the Polish minister, the Polish citizen tried to establish cooperation with Russian services. On May 19, 2025, law enforcement agencies filed an indictment against him in court.

Tomasz Siemoniak noted that the Polish side closely cooperates with the Ukrainian services in matters of ensuring the security of President Zelensky.
Let us recall that today the head of the SBU Vasyl Malyuk announced a special operation in Poland to prevent an assassination attempt on Zelensky and thanked the Polish special service ABW for its assistance in exposing and detaining the perpetrator.
According to the head of the SBU, the Russian special services had long ago recruited a Pole, a retired military man. The man firmly believed in the Soviet idea. Therefore, when the opportunity arose, the enemy special services decided to involve this man in an assassination attempt on Zelensky.
According to the Russians' plan, the Pole was supposed to physically eliminate the Ukrainian president at the Rzeszow airport.
Several options for assassinating Zelensky were considered: one was an FPV drone, the other was a sniper complex.
According to the Polish prosecutor's office, the recruited man's name is Pawel K.
In February 2025, President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about an assassination attempt on him at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022. He said that shots were fired and troops were landing.
