The Spanish media inform that the case on the detention of the pro-Russian blogger will be considered in the next few hours.
According to journalists, Shariy is heading to the National Court of Spain on May 5.
The media also named the name of a lawyer defending the propagandist in court. It was Gonzalo Boye, the lawyer of Catalan separatist leader Carles Puigdemont.
Shariy was detained in Spain: what is known
On the morning of May 5, information appeared that pro-Russian blogger Anatoly Shariy was detained in Spain. The detention of a blogger who actively supports Russian aggression was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.
Subsequently, the Spanish police confirmed his detention, which took place on Wednesday, May 4. According to media reports, Sharia was detained in the city of Terragona in Catalonia. At the same time, the police had an international arrest warrant.
Reportedly living in Terragona since 2019. In March 2022, Ukrainians found a blogger in Spain. As a result of an “unplanned” meeting for Shariy, a skirmish broke out.
In Ukraine, Shariy, who fled the country in 2012, is accused of high treason and inciting ethnic and racial hatred. In the summer of 2021, he was included in the NSDC sanctions list.
In early March, his YouTube channel was blocked in Ukraine. Shariy's wife Olga and their common channel “Dubl” were also blocked on YouTube in Ukraine.
In addition, Shariy's pages on social networks Facebook and Instagram were banned.
The Office of the President reported that Shariy will be tried in Ukraine and an extradition procedure is being prepared for this.
Shariy himself denies the accusations against him. However, data from the State Department of Lithuania testify against him. At one time, Shariy was hiding in Lithuania.
Evidence against the blogger shows that he is directly connected with the administration of Vladimir Putin.
