The Cabinet of Ministers has found a new source of financing for the production of its own weapons

by alex

Ukraine must increase the production of its own drones, weapons and ammunition. To this end, the Cabinet of Ministers submitted a bill that proposes to allocate military personal income tax (personal income tax. — Ed.) – a tax that the state pays for the military – to purchase equipment and own weapons production.

About Prime Minister Denis Shmygal reports this in his Telegram.

He noted that during the full-scale invasion, local budget revenues from military personal income tax increased eightfold. For 2023, the projected amount will be more than UAH 96 billion, while in 2021 the figure was about UAH 12 billion.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers also said that the growth is occurring solely because the state is increasing spending on the defense sector and military salaries.

— Our Security and Defense Forces need more resources. The government bill will allow us to attract UAH 25.8 billion this year and UAH 93.7 billion next year for additional purchases of drones and for increasing the production of our own weapons, — Denis Shmygal reported.

The head of government added that at the same time, more than 200 billion UAH already accumulated in the accounts of local budgets and budgetary institutions will remain at the disposal of local authorities. For those communities that objectively lack funds, the state will provide a basic subsidy and leave a reverse subsidy.

— Thus, the resource of local budgets in 2024 will be 75 billion UAH more than it was in 2021 before the full-scale invasion, — the prime minister summed up.

Recall that on September 13, President Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukraine plans to produce drones and weapons on its territory. This will be provided for in the state budget for 2024 and will become one of the main priorities.

On September 3, then Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov announced his intention to increase the production of Ukrainian drones this fall.
