A Serious Test: Can Russia Attack a NATO Country? Natalia Belzetskaya

NATO is seriously talking about an unconventional attack on an Alliance member country. The risks are growing, given the large number of such hybrid operations and sabotage.

National security expert and Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman Ivan Varchenko told Channel 24 that the Alliance is currently observing Russian aggression, which is becoming increasingly stronger. Unfortunately, NATO's response remains sluggish.

Is NATO ready for new threats

The Alliance wants to prepare for an unconventional war with Russia, but so far its efforts are insufficient. This is not the first time that Russians have carried out terrorist attacks on civilized countries and endangered people's lives. One only has to recall the poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Skripal or Alexander Litvinenko.

We have seen how Russia attacked the civilized world with cyberattacks, encroached on processes during election campaigns, carried out outright provocations in the interests of certain candidates, destroying the foundations of democracy, – noted Ivan Varchenko.

Already during a full-scale war, Russia flew its planes, missiles and drones into the airspace of other states. Often, debris from air targets fell on the territory of NATO countries, causing casualties, but there was no reaction. The alliance limits itself to very diplomatic statements.

Russian missiles fell in Poland, fragments of “Shaheds” in Romania. What will happen when more than one or two people die as a result of Russian attacks? This is already a serious test for NATO and it is only accumulating, – emphasized Ivan Varchenko.

We need to develop a system of reactions to such situations now. Considering Russia's aggressiveness and its terrorist attacks, the West's response must be much tougher.
