The authorities of unrecognized Abkhazia have withdrawn the agreement on investment projects. Earlier, it sparked protests outside the building of the legislative body.

The head of unrecognized Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania, amid mass protests against the agreement, said that the presidential administration is preparing a document to withdraw the bill from parliament. This was reported by 24 Kanal with reference to local Telegram channels.

The bill provided for the ratification of an agreement on Russian investment projects in Abkhazia. The decision was made in order to stabilize the situation in the republic.

The bill “On the ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Government of the Russian Federation on the implementation of investment projects by Russian legal entities in the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia” is being withdrawn from parliament.

Recall that at the end of October, an agreement was signed in Moscow providing large Russian businesses with unprecedented benefits, the opportunity to implement projects in Abkhazia, as well as the right to own land and property. As of September 1, Moscow stopped financing the Abkhaz budget, demanding, in particular, approval of this agreement.
