Sergey Cherevaty, speaker of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, spoke about this. on the air of the telethon. According to him, the enemy still wants to achieve at least some intermediate result.
The enemy is trying to constantly aggravate the situation, as far as he has enough strength. Clearly, this is the point of no return for them. They are trying to achieve at least some kind of victory on land. Bakhmut has become a symbol of helplessness for them, – Sergey Cherevaty noted.
Failures in Bakhmut disorientated the Russians
The speaker noted that the Russians have been trying to capture Bakhmut. Such failures greatly disorientate the military-political leadership of the aggressor country.
They can't take a mere regional center, before declaring that they will either take all of Ukraine or Kyiv in 3 days. Consequently, they are constantly changing command, throwing criminals from the PIK Wagner group, including criminals who were imprisoned under heavy articles, to strengthen their forces,” Cherevaty added.

Therefore, the military believes that for the Russians this is like the last battle: they pull together everything they can in order to achieve at least some intermediate result. And this greatly affects our defense.
At the same time, a more valuable feat that our defenders create, including our Bakhmut fortress – our citadel of the Ukrainian spirit, – emphasized representative.
Since, in spite of everything, the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not allow the enemy to pass, they hold him back in heavy battles. And most importantly, they do not allow to break through the systemic defense, to go to the rear, to the operational space. They do not allow the enemy to move in the direction of Slavyansk – Kramatorsk, and then occupy the Donbass.
